5 augustus 2015 | Energy, hightech ánd “education and further education” will be the primary focus of the ‘Partner Country’ programme and presentations of the USA at the Hannover Messe in april 2016. This will be first time the USA will feature as the focus-nation of the world’s largest hightech and knowledge event.

The United States has been named the official Partner Country for the Hannover Messe of 2016, making the world’s No. 1 economic powerhouse the Guest of Honor at the world’s biggest trade fair for industrial technology. It may be hard to believe, but the USA is making its debut as the Partner Country at the world’s largest industrial technology event, after India this yea and the Netherlands in 2014.

Regain the status

For the Messe winning the United States as the Partner Country is a great success – one which will further enhance the attractiveness of the next year’s event. “President Obama has committed himself to strengthening America’s domestic industry. The modernization of America’s industrial sector and the digital integration of its production plants and equipment are proceeding there at a rapid pace,” explains Dr. Jochen Köckler, member of the managing board at Deutsche Messe. “The goal of the U.S. government is to regain its status as one of the world’s leading production locations, which predestines the United States as next Partner Country at Hannover.”

U.S. industry is modernizing at a rapid pace, as the digital integration of production equipment continues its inexorable forward march. Over the past few years, the Messe has become increasingly pivotal to transatlantic trade relations. The ‘Partner Country USA’ campaign adds a new dimension to this.

New infrastructure and education

In Hannover the United States will be showcasing itself as a high-caliber manufacturer and exporter of high-quality, globally competitive products. U.S. President Obama has repeatedly made clear that the United States also welcomes foreign investment – a desire which has been underscored by improved investment conditions as well as new infrastructure and education and training programs in the U.S.

The primary focus of the Partner Country showcase being organized by the United States will consist of energy efficiency and energy production, state-of-the-art production technology, education and further education as well as transatlantic partnerships. Building forth on the 2014 Partner Country programme and priorities of the Netherlands there will be in 2016 once more a special ‘Wissenstag‘ with its focus on Higher Education, R&D and the valorisation of knowledge, organised by ScienceGuide and PBT. Of special significane will be the fact that the Netherlands will be presiding over the European Union during the first half of 2016, as the Messe will be held.
