Helsinki kijkt naar Delhi
With its rapid economic growth and social change, India is outstripping most other countries. Although large parts of the country’s population suffer from poverty, India’s affluent middle class is growing.
The Indian economy relies to an increasing extent on excellence in know-how and service production. Numerous Western companies are subcontracting, for example, software production from India but also increasingly more demanding research and development. Although the increasing global significance of India is understood, its economy, culture and society are still fairly unknown in Finland or the image of them is fairly one- dimensional.
Sitra’s India Programme focuses initially on providing information and building networks. The programme will produce reports on various aspects of India and later create co-operation beneficial to both Finland and India.
