eScience in opmars

“Nordic biobanks are in a class of their own internationally, giving the Nordic countries unique opportunities for collaboration."

“The Netherlands eScience Centeris a unique initiative within the EU”, zei Frans de Bruïne van deEuropese Commissie in Helsinki.

“A Nordic or European research area cannot exist withouteInfrastructure,”aldus bijvoorbeeld Gudmund Høst, Special Adviserat the Research Council van Noorwegen. “Without EuropeaneInfrastructure, there can be no world-class eScience and therewill be less innovation and less economic growth,” voegde De Bruïnedaar aan toe.

Data flirten in plaats van delen

Over het Nederlandse initiatief werd onder meer vastgesteld:”the ‘science first’ approach of the Center – rather than atechnology focus – is unique and has the potential to reachtraditional scientists with eScience in a way that has notpreviously been possible.” We have a new generation of social people and we have a newgeneration of tools. The social is more important than thetechnical, but the technical can revolutionise the social.”

“Reuse is of key importance in eScience. Weare asking people to play nice and share, but there are no socialmodels for this.”
