A dream digitized

16 januari 2012 | Martin Luther King had a dream. And thanks to the Imaging Project of The King Center everybody can now minutely study the drafts of his world famous speech. In cooperation with JPMorgan Chase the King Centre digitized close to 200.000 documents.

The innovative Imaging Project includes the creation of a globaleducational website based on a comprehensive collection of Dr. King’s papersand other audio-visual materials. Along with Dr. King’s documents,the project also includes originals from other key figures andgroups involved in the Civil Rights movement.

The website, for the first time, makes historical materials suchas Dr. King’s speeches, sermons and correspondence, readilyavailable to anyone across the world with access to the internet.As of Monday, January 16, the documents will be showcased on TheKing Center’s website.

Over the past 9 months, JPMorgan Chase put together a team ofover 200 individuals to execute the project. The team consisted ofimaging and archival experts, U.S. military veterans from TheVeterans Curation Program, students from Morehouse and SpelmanColleges (the alma maters of the King Family), Kennesaw StateUniversity and Emory University and Civil RightsScholars.
