De Staat van de Universiteit

Nieuws | de redactie
18 maart 2013 | Wat is de toekomst van uw universiteit en hogeschool? Duidelijk is ‘to be European, or not to be.’

The session is organized by EEU, Empower European Universities, a Foundation established and chaired by Jo Ritzen with the aim to provide a mirror for European states regarding their quality of university policy. The State of University Policy for Progress has some uneasy advice to governments of European Countries and to the EU Commission and Parliament, as well as to universities.

The report shows that the level of economic innovation in a country is dependent on the performance of the universities in the areas of education and of research. In turn, the performance of universities in the different European countries depends strongly on Government policies in terms of funding and in terms of the legal constraints imposed on the way universities can act.

In our meeting we will discuss the relevance of this report against the way European countries were assessed in terms of the quality of their policies as well as on the trends which the report has discovered in university policy and their implications. Lastly we want to discuss the policy conclusions of the report. The report is available on the EEU website: http://empowereu.org/publications/ An article by ScienceGuide on the analysis of the repoer can be read here.

The session will take place on 10 April 2013 from 15.30- 17.30 hrs at Amsterdam University College (Robbert Dijkgraaf Auditorium), Science Park 113, 1098 XG Amsterdam.
