Dagprogramma Wissenstag 2015

09:30 – 10:00      Excellence in triple helix cooperation

The first part of the Wissenstag starts with a keynote by Jeroen van der Veer. The former CEO of Shell International and acting president of the National Platform Science and Technology will point out how to accelerate excellence in triple helix cooperation, based on concrete examples and actions.

10:00 – 10:30      Landing on a Comet

Dr. Koen Geurts of the German Aerospace Center in Cologne, chief-lander of the Philae spacecraft on the comet Chury, will give a presentation on the greatest breakthrough of 2014, as honored by ‘Science magazine’. Landing on comet Chury was a daring and extremely innovative project of scientists, high-tech and European nations working together.

10:30 – 11:00      Lessons from smart cooperation

Prof. dr. Detlef Lohse, the German director of POF (Physics of Fluids) at University of Twente, a leading Dutch high-tech institute, will present how he and his team work with ASML and Océ and the new challenges such cooperation brings for both R&D, science, policymakers and industry.

11:30 – 12:30      How to get the right people for Industry 4.0

During this interactive session we will discuss the HRM aspect of the triple helix. How can each organization assure itself of finding, keeping and developing the best and brightest people in order to achieve its own ambitious goals? Who are they, from where do they come? Among others, Dutch STEM-Pact leader Doekle Terpstra will present the actions he leads with industry, education and (regional) governments to combat the skills gaps.

13:00 – 14:30      The future of the triple helix

The Wissenstag 2015 will conclude with a focus on the future of the triple helix. What are the most important questions we have to answer? What is the direction we are going? Which stakeholders have which responsibilities here?

Vice-Chairperson TU Delft Anka Mulder (the first non-American and first female president of the worldwide OCW-network of open education/MOOCs) will address how high-tech and higher education go through a revolution of knowledge sharing.

Limburg regional minister Twan Beurskens presents Brightlands, where industry, education, R&D and policymakers integrate their efforts for long-term high-tech development.

Later on, these speakers will join a broad forum discussion, together with Jeroen van der Veer and Koen Geurts, looking ahead not just for Industry 4.0, HE and R&D, but also to the Wissenstag 2016. This event will be a highlight of the Dutch EU Presidency and bring together the best examples form Europe as an inspiration for innovation and knowledge sharing.
